PhD students
Gaurav Pathak
Gaurav defended his thesis, entitled “Optoelectronic properties of the poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): polystyrene sulphonate thin films in varied doping states”, in April 2019 at the Department of physics, Faculty of science, University of Zagreb. Following his PhD at LCPI, he left for a postdoc at the Centre Microéctronique de Provence in Gardanne, France.
MSc students (diploma)
Marija Ceranić
Marija was a MSc student of medicinal chemistry at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Rijeka. She defended her thesis entitled “Synthesis of the amphiphilic derivates of methyl red indicator and the physicochemical characterization of their supramolecular aggregates” in Sep 2022 (co-mentor Dr. Nela Malatesti).
Martina Vragović
Martina finished the sanitary engineering studies at the Faculty of medicine, University of Rijeka, and defended her MSc thesis entitled “Synthesis and characterization of polymer nanoparticles with controlled nitroxide radical release” in September 2020 (thesis supervisor Dr. Damir Klepac, co-supervisor Duško Čakara). Martina is currently a PhD student at the Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Science.
Nino Požar
Nino defended his thesis entitled “Multivariate regression methods for chemometric analysis of the near-infrared spectra” in Sep 2019, after winning the 1st prize at the national competition for students in big data. Before that, he studied medicinal chemistry at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Rijeka. He was a member of LCPI since 2016, and active as demonstrator in the laboratory course of physical chemistry. He was exploiting his immense talent for algebra and computing, in developing and testing the methods of multivariate analysis and model fitting. Nino is currently employed as data data scientist at BE-terna
Dario Matulja
Dario finished the MSc program of medicinal chemistry at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Rijeka. He defended his MSc thesis entitled “Charge and size of the self-assembled amphiphilic dye aggregates: An experimental study” in September 2018 (co-mentor Dr. Nela Malatesti). He was a member of LCPI since 2016, and active as demonstrator in the laboratory course of physical chemistry. Dario is currently a PhD student of medicinal chemistry at the Department of biotechnology, University of Rijeka.
Lovro Žužić
Lovro defended his MSc thesis entitled “Chemical modification and physico-chemical characterization of the borosilicate glass surfaces for a covalent protein immobilization” in September 2018. Before that, he finished the MSc program of medicinal chemistry at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Rijeka. He was the first student finishing his MSc thesis at LCPI.
ERASMUS exchange students
Anna Nebalueva
In 2021, Anna was an ERASMUS+ exchange student from ITMO University, St. Petersburg (Russian Federation), interested in the experimental determination of protonation and aggregation properties of H-bonded complexes, such as melamine-barbituric acid.
Romain Delmas
Romain came for a three month internship in April 2016, from the École Nationale Supérieure des Ingénieurs en Arts Chimiques et Technologiques (ENSIACET), in Toulouse, France. He was very actively performing a short research project with a goal to measure the protonation enthalpy for weakly acidic polyelectrolytes, by exploiting the potentiometric titrations and the isothermal titration calorimetry. Romain is currently working at Chanel.
Other
Lorena Šimunić
Lorena is a final year MSc student of medicinal chemistry at the department of biotechnology, University of Rijeka. In 2021 and 2022, she was volunteering as research assistant at the LCPI. After this, she went for an Erasmus internship at the TU Darmstadt, in the group of Professor Regine von Klitzing.
